Devín castle registration

Join us for a relaxed pre-General Assembly afternoon trip to one of the most iconic historical and natural sites around Bratislava: Devín Castle, located at the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers at the Slovak–Austrian border.
🕒 Meeting point & timing
We meet at 11:30 at Devín pier (Slovanské nábrežie, 841 10 Devín).
Participants arriving by both bus and boat will gather here before continuing together.
Please try to arrive on time so we can move together as a group.
🚍 How to get there

Option 1: Public transport (budget-friendly)
Take bus line 29 from Bratislava city centre to stop “Slovanské nábr.”
Standard Bratislava public transport tickets apply.
This is the easiest and most flexible option.Option 2: Boat (recommended experience)
A sightseeing boat departs from Bratislava city centre at 10:00 and arrives at Devín pier at 11:30, directly at the meeting point.
Booking is handled individually here:
Bratislava–Devín sightseeing cruise
Approximate prices: Return €25, one way €23 (Discounts available for students, seniors, children, and disabled visitors)
We strongly encourage taking the boat if you have time — it is one of the most scenic ways to experience Bratislava and its surroundings, offering views of the Danube floodplain forests, wildlife, and the city skyline from the water.

🚶‍♀️ Walk & symbolic route
From the pier, we will take a short and easy walk (~800 m) along the Danube beneath the castle cliffs.
On the opposite side of the river lies Austria — a reminder that this border was once heavily controlled and inaccessible during the communist regime. Today, it represents open borders, freedom of movement, and a shared European space.
Along the route, we will pass several memorials and artistic installations, before arriving at the Brána slobody (Gate of Freedom).
This memorial commemorates people who lost their lives attempting to cross the Iron Curtain into the Western Bloc. It is a quiet and reflective place that connects local history with broader European memory.
After this stop, we continue together to Devín Castle.
🏰 Devín Castle visit
At the castle, participants will have free time for individual sightseeing.
The castle offers panoramic views over the Danube and Morava rivers, visibility of the Austrian border, historical ruins and exhibitions and one of the most symbolic landscape points in Slovakia.
Entry is optional and paid individually.
Admission fees: Adults: €8, Children, students, seniors: €4 and free entry for children under 6 and severely disabled visitors
