During this 5-week course (13 January - 16 February, 2025), we will teach you the basics of Python for Data Science. You will also have the chance to practice what you learnt with weekly quizzes and a group project, which you will work on for throughout the course.
Topics: Handling CSV files, data manipulation and visualization, plots (heatmaps, line plots, pie charts, histograms, scatter plots), hypothesis testing, outlier detection and missing observations, polynomial and Gaussian fitting, One-Hot encoding, K-means, cluster analysis, pandas library.
Completion Certificate: In order to receive a certificate of completion, you must be present in at least 8 out of 10 sessions, complete at least 4 out of 5 quizzes and receive at least a 5.5 in your group project.
Lectures & Tutorials: Lectures will take place weekly on Mondays (11:00-12:45). Tutorials also take place weekly, but you can choose between 2 different time slots: Wednesdays (17:00-18:45) or Thursdays (13:00-14:45). You can only attend tutorials for the group you bought a ticket for; so if you wish to work on the group project with a friend, we recommend you sign up to the same tutorial group.
Note: This course is recommended for students who already know the basics of Python, equivalent to having taken our course Introduction to Python. If you are not sure whether you meet this requirement, you can contact us through Instagram @turingrotterdam or send us an email to educationcommittee@tstudents.nl before January 6, 23:59
Lectures and tutorials will be in-person, at Campus Woudestein.
