On Saturday, October 17, 2026, The National Park De Hoge Veluwe will once again be the setting for a top-level culinary spectacle. For the second time, the European Championship Culinary Wild BBQ will take place here, simultaneously with the fifth edition of the Dutch Championship Culinary Wild BBQ. The organization is in the hands of Gastropedia.nl and Stichting Het Nationale Park De Hoge Veluwe, in close collaboration with WBQA Netherlands.
The goal of this prestigious competition is to promote culinary barbecuing with Dutch wild game, in the broadest sense of the word. The organization challenges participating teams to combine creativity, technique, and taste in a beautiful, natural environment.
Culinary Craftsmanship and Pure Ingredients
The participating teams are tasked with preparing four dishes. The focus is entirely on products from home soil: each dish must consist of Dutch wild game, combined with Dutch seasonal vegetables.
To guarantee the artisanal character of the competition, strict rules apply to the use of fuels. Teams may exclusively use briquettes, wood, or charcoal. The use of gas or electric barbecues is not permitted, placing pure mastery of fire at the center.
Looking Back and Competition
The bar is set high for the 2026 edition. In 2025, the team Croix Valley Culinary managed to convince the jury and claim the title of Dutch Champion. The European title went to our southern neighbors that year: the Belgian team The JuiceBrothers crowned themselves European Champion.
Participation and Regulations
